When someone thinks of “competing” they usually think of intense preparation for a specific event.  Bodybuilding is an area that discipline and hard work are prerequisites for success.  The focus and drive required are for those who really are looking for an intense physical and mental challenge.  I believe anyone who has the desire to compete in bodybuilding should bring that challenge to the front.  I was inspired to compete by someone who believed I had what it took to achieve the necessary steps to get myself on stage.  In my whole life, I have never been as self-disciplined and motivated as during those 12 weeks.  My body fat went from 22% to 10%.  My weight went from 132 to 112.  It was amazing what transformation my body was capable of when put to the challenge.  It is not for everyone, but it is for those who love the thrill of a challenge and love to workout and eat well.

For men, there is basically one category for competing and that is  bodybuilding.  For women, there is figure, fitness, and bodybuilding.  For more information on the areas to compete, check out www.bodybuilding.com.  My first competition was in the Figure division.  My next competition will be in the spring.  My plan is to try my hand at bodybuilding!  Wish me luck!
