Black Bean Burgers

1 can of black beans (low sodium) rinsed 
1/2 cup oatmeal
2 tsp garlic
1 T cumin
1 T chili powder
1/2 pepper (any color) finely diced
1/4 cup red onion
1 egg
Mash beans until pasty, add veggies, oatmeal, spices, and egg.  Should look more pasty than wet.  Form into patties.  Cook 4-5 minutes on each side.  Add white cheese if you desire.  Makes 4 medium sized patties.
 Note from the chef:
Chad and I have been very creative in this recipe.  We have tried adding Avocado which was delicious!!  We have also added shredded zucchini and red onion.  Last night we added fresh grated parmesean instead of putting cheese on top!  I mean, literally, just about anything you like works, just chop it well.
